The post-monsoon Damdama in 2018, showing exposed grassy banks with a truncating expanse of water at the far end, which in earlier times would extend well into deeply forested tracts. In summer the lake dried up to a mere puddle.
Abstract: Damdama and Badhkal, two prominent lakes situated in the north and south of the Aravalli outcrops, have all but vanished. Increasing human interference, unprecedented rise in built up area, privatisation of land for recreational purposes and unsustainable cropping activities in recent years are wiping out these lakes.
